The Project, which is funded by EBRD and with the grant from SIDA and BP, is a pioneering project of its kind for the Government of Georgia. The Project primarily pursues the objective of collection, segregation, and recycling of domestic solid wastes in the Regions of Rustavi and Gardabani so that recycled materials may be used as feedstock in the manufacturing processes.
The scope of the Project basically covers the following: supply of water and electricity to the facility, construction and installation of weighbridge, administrative building, staff building, workshops, decomposition/bailing (bundling) building, packet treatment plant and illumunation of the site. In addition, concrete and gravel road, infrastructure works, electrofusion HDPE piping, laying of geomembranes and geotextile, construction of leakage system observation and warning systems, steel construction and related site illumination installations.
As a summary at the end of the project Lot 1 was ready operate leakage water collection system, monitoring and recirculation system, clay and gravel stockpiling areas, facility roads, open canals, peripheral embankments, green belts and forestation.
