As the first cell in the solid waste storage area in Güngör become full, the second cell landfill will come into service. For the infrastructure of the second cell and the environmental works, work was started in January 2018 with the financing of the European Commission € 1.9 million. An organisation facility is performed after the second cell completion. In that facility: European Union Program Support Office Manager Arttu Makipaa emphasized that the first cell had reached its capacity to meet the demand for 10 years earlier. Ministry of Interior Undersecretary Ömer Köseoğlu said that regular landfills have an important role in preventing pollution of air and water resources. Engineer Ahmet Yalçın Yazıcı on behalf of Göksin İnşaat, who carries out the infrastructure works of the cells as a contractor, stated that the pipelines were also built for the collection of methane gas which is harmful to the environment from the stored waste.
