The "Bakü-Balakhani Solid Waste Managemen Project" which started on 12.01.2015 and undertaken by GÖKŞİN & MESOGEOS JV has been awarded by the Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan republic under the loan financed by the World Bank.
The project has been completed successfully in due time and handed over to the employer. Within the project scope: the field located near the Boyuk Shore lake in the capital of Baku and having been used as wild storage area since the 60s has been rehabilitated and a new sanitary landfill has been constructed on the rehabilitated waste mass. The lake and lakeshore have been cleaned as well. The leachate arising in the whole area has been taken under control and are treated by RO system. The landfill gases in the old storage area are collected and converted into electrical energy by a CHP unit and the whole power demand of the facility is supplied. The project with perfect standards for Baku has been completed according to EU standards with the loan facilitated by the World Bank.
